singer 99k, the back up plan...

I have quite a task ahead of me in the form of making shade for my building projects in Bulgaria.  Plan "A" is a singer 95k43 in a table with a tiny little domestic Motor, works well but Who knows..  Was looking for a spare motor to be sure but instead.  Picked up a rather tidy singer 99k from a charity shop circa 1950 The plastic base on the machine was broken this is quite common. I was originally only after its motor as a back up for my 95k43  However the mountings are different so Plan "B" came into force....  Mount it in some kind of worktop.  Just need to fashion some legs Hopefully If it all goes pear shape this little baby will come to the rescue..

finally got my singer 95k on the go

So the 1942 WW2 Singer 95k that i bought in a treadle cabinet has now been cut into a table and given a small electric motor. The table was something I got locally for just a few pounds and the old treadle table was cut up and sacrificed to the woodburner. anyway after a small strip down and rebuild Shes up and running.  Very soon she will be Transporter in my trailer 2000 miles to her new resting place in Bulgaria.  She has a lot of work ahead of her mainly heavy canvas.  After 80 years you think she'd have earned a rest...  Very hard getting hold of needle for her but I've now got hold of a good mixture as I'm afraid they wont be produced anymore..

vintage machine number 5 Alfa

After a little searching I found a Spanish Alfa machine, she had been neglected and left unloved in a damp shed for the last five years, but undterred I travelled a little over 100 miles to pick up what I believed to be a working machine.  Unfortunately this was not the case and she was completely siezed But with a lot of patience and love I managed to bring her back to life.  Now she Just needs to be test ran and Possibly adjusted But She's free and looking gorgous even on an over cast rainy day in Liverpool

My first truly antique machine.

This is my first truly antique machine Its a singer 15k and it dates back by serial number to the year 1907. I purchased this from a small stone cottage in a remote hill side village in North Wales. She came in a carry case complete with an electric motor and lamp. Siting on a very good wooden base with a genuine singer instructions booklet hidden in the small wooden draw. I was led to believe that the electric motor had been retro fitted at a later part of its life and that it originally would have been a crank handle, but I cant verify this.  Its condition though is very good with everything free and moving as expected. Love the foot shape pedal.  All in all She's in unrestored condition and ready for lots of oil and love.

Another singer virtually antique 99years old on its original treadle table

This is a beauty in full unrestored state. A nice complete singer 66 machine from 1922 and in full running order, purchased from a nice old guy that used it to upholster Motor homes It will look absolutely fabulous after some hours of refurbishment..  I'm sure that the Chrome metal work will come up a treat.  The cabinet has four long drawer and the nice tilting middle draw.  The treadle mechanism works a treat.  It even came with quality singer accessories in there original tin.  In a nut shell a nice genuine quality piece of history, in some repect could even be a shame to restore it and strip off its layers of grime thats  accumulated with use.

95k43 Stripdown

Tonight I decided to strip down the 1942 Singer 95k43Industrial machine. The Woman that I had bought it off had paid a retired sewing machine engineer to service this machine as it was intended to be a present for her Sister. Unfortunately, her Sister didnt like the cabinet it was housed in and refused the gift.  I can understand why... Upon close inspection it was clear that the engineer had changed the hook, bobin case and oiled the machine. It is lovely and free and sews as would be expected.  I decided to give it more of a deep clean and remove as much crud as possible.  Too be fair it wasn't too bad.  Now the 95k43 is meant to be a light industrial machine and on the rear side is a knee lift facility that clearly doesn't work in the cabinet.  Now this was a clue because the paint was clearly worn underneath where it had been repeatedly used with a knee lift.  Also the c...

Not another industrial sewing machine

Ok So I like to research, I mean quite a bit... I Just purchased this fully serviced and working Singer 95K43 She was built in scotland in 1942 so at the moment she's 79years old Or should I say young.  Apparantly she's an industrial machine that was designed for garment making.  These machines where sometimes used in the home by seamstresses as well as in factories.  This one cane in a home cabinet, with a quality clutch Motor..  Not so sure what I'm going to do with her.  I think she would be better suited to a table rather than a treadle as there is the capability to lift the presser foot by means of a foot pedal then.  Anyway very pleased, fully functional antique industrial singer
